Introduction:
A surgical nurse, also referred to as
a theatre nurse, specializes in preoperative care which means they provide care
to patients before, during and after surgery. Once you have completed your
training to become a Registered Nurse(RN).

Role of Surgical Nurse:
1-measure patients vital signs.
2-provide pre and postoperative care for patients.
3-provide surgical dressing.
4-write initial plan of care: nursing diagnosis,
need ,focus, discharge planning.
5- Maintain Respiratory function> administer of
Oxygen.
6-Maintain Cardiovascular function>Code cart and
equipment maintenance.
7-Support and maintain Nutritional Requirements.
8-Administer Medications.
9-Care for the patient with limited mobility.
10-Maintain Elimination Function of GI and GU
systems.
11-Collect of specimens.
12-Implement
principles of infection control.
13-Maintain patient ,visitor. Staff safety,
Environmental safety.
